Job Overview:
The Engineering Technician II provides hands-on technical support for communication circuits, enterprise networking, VoIP systems, and cable plant infrastructure. This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing communications and network systems while providing excellent customer service to end users.
Working under established procedures and guidance from senior technicians and engineers, the Engineering Technician II performs recurring technical assignments, resolves operational issues, and supports reliable network operations across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network & Communications Support
- Install, support, and maintain communication circuits and associated infrastructure.
- Perform technical analysis of hardware and transmission facilities using diagnostic tools.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity, routing, switching, and VoIP issues.
- Resolve work orders related to:
- Cable Plant
- Network Infrastructure
- VoIP Services
- Support enterprise PC hardware and software connectivity.
- Analyze network issues and implement solutions using established procedures.
- Technical Operations
- Diagnose and resolve network failures and communication issues.
- Perform routine maintenance activities.
- Complete assignments with moderate supervision.
- Utilize technical knowledge while continuously learning client-specific systems and processes.
- Work within established operational guidelines and policies.
- Engineering Technician Functions
- In accordance with the Engineering Technician II labor category, responsibilities include:
- Assembling, servicing, and repairing standard equipment and components.
- Conducting tests using established procedures and recording test results.
- Identifying equipment malfunctions and reporting deviations.
- Extracting and processing engineering data from prescribed sources.
- Presenting technical data using established methods and formats.
- Customer Service
- Deliver exceptional customer support.
- Explain technical issues in clear, straightforward language.
- Collaborate with teammates to resolve service requests.
- Support end users while maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach.
