Job Overview:
Sure Secure has an immediate need for a Network Monitor to support the AEGIS contract, which provides integrated communications services for secure voice, video, and data solutions to NASA customers worldwide.
The selected candidate will support NASA’s network operations at the Enterprise Network Operations Center (ENOC) in Huntsville.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor network events and element management failures in real-time (24x7x365 operations).
- Respond to alarms in Network Monitoring Systems (NMS) and take appropriate actions.
- Proactively analyze alarms and perform detailed fault analysis.
- Filter and correlate fault information.
- Identify fault conditions and impacts.
- Isolate root causes and coordinate resolution across infrastructure teams.
- Create and update tickets in Remedy.
- Generate incidents for network anomalies.
- Perform call-outs as needed (including off-hours).
- Notify appropriate points of contact for critical or heightened awareness incidents.
- Make sound decisions quickly with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 4+ years of relevant experience
- Ability to work in a 24/7 operation (including non-standard shifts)
- Experience in one or more of the following:
- Alarm surveillance
- Fault management
- LAN maintenance
- Performance management
- Basic understanding of computer systems and networks
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearanceinformation.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with Network Management Tools and help desk applications
- Previous help desk or Tier 1 call center experience
- Network or Security certifications
- Familiarity with routing protocols (BGP, OSPF)
- Understanding of TCP and UDP
- Experience with:
- Routers, switches, crypto devices
- CISCO, Juniper
- MSPP, DWDM, Optical Switching
- DSN/DRSN, Video Services, Promina
- Understanding of network topologies (transport and IP)
